Youth Programs
Jesus And Me (6-8th Graders)
JAM is a group designed for middle school youth designed to encourage Christian fellowship and service. JAM meets approximately twice a month during the school year on Wednesdays from 4:45-5:30 p.m. During this time we have devotions, eat dinner, and participate in a fun activity or a service activity. Some group favorites are dodge ball, kickball, our annual rake-n-run, winter camp at Camp Luther, and Summer Stretch. Friends are always welcome. On Wednesdays when there are not official JAM activities there is open gym from 4:45-5:30p.m. There is also a dinner served those weeks.
Summer Stretch is our summer program for outgoing 5th-outgoing 8th grade youth. We team up with other Lutheran churches four Wednesdays during July and August. In the mornings we volunteer at a local non-profit giving youth opportunities to try out ways they may enjoy serving. In the afternoons we eat lunch and participate in a fun activity where the youth can get to know other Christians from other congregations.
Check the church calendar for scheduled activities.
Faith Lutheran Youth (9-12th Graders)
FLY is a group designed for high school youth. FLY meets weekly on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. where we begin with a short devotional service. Following the service we meet together at the Youth House for dinner and fellowship or Bible study. FLY also participates in service and mission trips, winter camp at Camp Luther, and attends the LCMS Youth Gathering every three years. The youth have served at HandyCamp in Indiana and in Panama teaching English and building relationships in the community with the churches in Panama. In July 2010 the congregation sponsored a Panamanian youth to join our group at the National Youth Gathering. We are looking forward to offering more opportunities for our youth to serve each year.
Some weekly group favorites include dodge ball, game nights, and nights with the Pastor. In December the youth and parents host the Annual Cookie Walk for the community as our largest fundraiser. This has become a staple in the community and not only a fundraiser but a fun way that our youth and families are able to serve out community.
In December the group also serves by putting together a worship service for the second Wednesday in Advent. The service is typically a service of lessons, carols, and prayers. FLY does not meet regularly during December as they are planning for their special events so please check the schedule for special scheduled events. Also, during Lent, FLY eats together at the congregational meal before the Lenten services and sits together during the worship services. There are not regular FLY gatherings during Lent.
Please check the church calendar for the weekly schedule.
