Vacation Bible School - June 13-17, 2011

Each year we are blessed to share the love of God to the children of our congregation and the children of our communities. It has a special place in the heart of our congregation and has been an integral part of our ministry for many years. Our purpose is to give children a safe and exciting environment to learn about God’s love his children and how we can share God’s Word with people who may not know Him.

This year join us for Concordia Publishing House’s, Big Jungle Adventure. Below you will find our daily themes and verses.

Who is VBS for?

Any child who is at least 3 years old and is potty trained through students who have just completed 7th grade. Parents, please note that children will be in large group settings that may be unfamiliar. If you have a young child who is not used to being in a group setting, please stay around and help your child become comfortable in their surroundings.

Please note May 25th is the last day to register to guarantee your requested t-shirt size. Everyone will receive a t-shirt, but it may not be the best size if not pre-registered.

After June 10th online registration will be closed. There will be day of registrations on June 13th.

Is there a cost?

No, each child receives the student packet, free t-shirt, daily craft, and a special reminder to take home. There is a daily offering.

Are you a former VBSer who would like to volunteer? Contact Kristy Horrocks at 435-5524 for more opportunities.

May I invite friends? Absolutely! Just send your friends to our webpage to register.

May I be with my friend? Our registration ladies try very hard to match up children with friend requests. In order to make this a possibility, please keep friend requests in these groupings: 3 and 4 year olds, 5 year olds and Kindergartener, 1st and 2nd graders, and 3rd-5th graders. Sixth and seventh graders are already together. The way Vacation Bible School is set up, we need to keep children with age appropriate groups and this will help us ensure that your child can be with his/her friend.

Offerings: Each year the children bring in offerings that go to support a special project. We have a three year cycle that includes an international, national, and then local projects. Each year we also try and do something local in addition to the offerings. We have made quilts the last three years that have gone to different organizations in Green Bay. Each year the children have averaged $1,600 for the project of the year. 2011 will be an international project year. In the past we have raised money for Thrivent Builds/Habitat for Humanity, The African Mission Society, Lutheran Disabilities Ministries, and the Cerebral Palsy Center. We look forward to continuing to support these ministries.

Cookie Donations: Each year we ask families to donate homemade cookies without nuts for snacks for the week. The children love snack time and look forward to homemade cookies. On the online registration form there is a space for special notes. Please put a note if you are able to donate cookies, how many dozens, and which day you will be able to drop them off. We thank you for this gift!

Closing Program and Picnic: Each year on Friday the children share with parents, grandparents, and family friends what they’ve learned during the week at the closing event. The closing will begin at 11:30a.m. After there will be a picnic lunch and special activity. Parents will receive a form in your child’s take home bag to fill in and return for us to get a count for the meal. There is a requested free-will donation to help cover the cost of the meal.
