Sunday School

Faith Lutheran’s Sunday School is open to all children age 3-high school. There are also multiple adult classes that are offered on Sunday mornings. The Sunday School year runs beginning on Rally Day which is always the first Sunday after Labor Day to the Sunday prior to Memorial Day in May. Classes all meet in their rooms at 9:15 a.m. The Sunday School Office is located in the basement of the church. The Sunday School Superintendants are able to help new members and visitors find their classrooms. Questions during the week can be directed to Kristy Horrocks, Director of Christian Education, by phone at 920.435.5524 M-Th or e-mail . Please see special holiday information at the bottom of this page.

Children age 3-1st grade meet in their classrooms and then head to Cherub Choir. Each Sunday the children sing songs that help with learning about God and approximately once every other month they will sing at the beginning of the 10:30 a.m. service. Following music the children go back to their classrooms for the Bible lesson of the day as well as activities that help to expand their learning. Children must be picked up by an adult at the end of class for the safety of the children.

Children in 2nd-5th grade meet in their classrooms and then head to Youth Choir. These children also learn songs that help with their learning and sing several times a year sometimes with the adult choirs as well. Following music the 2nd-4th graders head back to their classrooms for the Bible lesson for the day.

The 5th-7th graders participate in a program called Grapple. This program is designed to help them take the questions that many youth wonder about and use God’s Word to help them “grapple” with the issue. It helps them to see dig into God’s Word and see how God is working in their lives. There is also an on-line component that allows them to place prayer requests, talk about questions they have, play games, and have God’s Word in their daily life. Youth must have a signed permission slip to receive a log-on name and password. This is a secure website so only students from our classes, their parents, and teachers will be able to access the site. It’s www.mygrapple.com. The 8th graders may use some of these materials as well as learning about the worship service and expanding on their Confirmation classes.

The High School youth meet in the Youth House (if you are a guest please stop by the Sunday School Office for help) each Sunday morning. Their leaders pick topics to help the youth study God’s Word and see the ways that God’s plans for life are always working.

Special Holiday Information

Each Christmas the children from 3 years old-8th graders are all invited to participate in the Christmas Service each year. Children sign-up with their teachers at the beginning on November and parts are handed out middle of November. First- sixth graders are given memory lines to tell about Christ’s birth. Sixth-Seventh graders play roles as parts of the Nativity scenes. And 7th-8th graders are given the opportunity to be part of the side by side acting portion of the Service. This service takes place the third Wednesday in Advent at 6:30 p.m. There are three practices, two on Saturdays and one the Tuesday night prior to the service. The 3 year olds- Kindergarteners sing for the service. Please look for more detailed information in November.

Also, the Cherub and Youth Choirs sing on Christmas Eve at the 4:30 p.m. service and on Easter at the 10:00 a.m. service each year.

There is no Sunday School between the Children’s Christmas Service on the third Wednesday of Advent and the beginning of the New Year. Please check the website Calendar for exact dates each year. There is also no Sunday School on Easter Sunday as we invite everyone to join us for the Easter Breakfast.
